CRAFTING CULINARY ARTISTRY: SAKE & KATSU
In the cooking world, how things look is very important. Making a restaurant's brand look good can make people curious and excited to eat there. This story is about a graphic and motion designer who was in charge of making Sake and Katsu, a restaurant, look amazing. We did everything from making the logo to creating moving pictures and videos, and even designing the menu. All of this shows how design can make a restaurant popular and successful.
Making of the Logo:
The most important part of a brand is its logo, and for Sake and Katsu, this was where we began. we looked at Asian food culture for inspiration, like traditional designs and writing styles. After trying out many ideas, we came up with a simple yet beautiful logo. It showed the idea of "happiness of heart," which was the restaurant's motto. The colours we picked, black and red, made the Bar & Grill feel fancy and connected to Asian culture. The logo was simple and could be used in many places, like hoardings and online.
Adding Motion with GIFs and Videos:
To make the brand more interesting, we used moving pictures like GIFs and videos. We made GIFs of someone picking up a piece of katsu with chopsticks and sipping sake, which felt relaxing and nice. These GIFs showed the food and drinks in a fun way.
We also made videos to tell the story of the restaurant, that showed chefs cooking in the open kitchen, people enjoying their food, and the calm atmosphere of the place. These videos were put on social media to get people excited about the restaurant.
Designing the Menu:
The menu was important too. It wasn't just a list of food; it had to look good too. We used elements from the logo in the menu design, so everything felt connected. When people looked at the menu, it made them hungry and excited to try the food.
